'Swades' is over 3 hours long
IANS [Tuesday, December 07, 2004]

In keeping with the demands of exhibitors, Ashutosh Gowarikar has sized down his "Swades" to a length of three hours, 12 minutes, reports Bollywood Trade.

The film earlier had a duration of three hours 45 minutes with exhibitors considering the idea of releasing the film in two shows. But the new three-hour-12-minute duration will now make it possible to schedule the film in three shows.

But a source from his office said: "The film was always 3.12 hours long but some vested interests had spread rumours about the film being 3.45 hours long. There is no question of reducing the film further."

The film will be released with 122 prints in Mumbai, according to its Mumbai distributors, UTV Pictures. "In addition to the urban areas, we have organised a planned campaign for the film in the interiors too," says Utpal Acharya, distribution-in-charge, UTV Pictures.
