As the year comes to a close, journos like us get into an almost ritual exercise of coming up with our respective Top 10 HITS or TOP 10 BEST movies or TOP 10 under some other category. Here at IndiaGlitz, we simply present you a list of TOP 11 MOST ENJOYABLE movies. The list has been complied regardless of the movie's box office status or the glowing reviews (or the lack of it) that they garnered from reputed and not so reputed critics!
11) Kya Kool Hain Hum
This movie deserves to be included in the list of the most entertaining movies of the year. For a change we didn't mind witnessing jokes and antics on the screen (that came with a solid A rating) with our parents. There was nothing double meaning about it as everything conveyed just one message with no room for a second interpretation. But still there was so much fun on screen due to a hilarious screenplay that this Santosh Sivan directed movie turned out to be the first big success for Ekta Kapoor. Riteish Deshmukh made a strong statement as Bollywood most reliable comic hero [as re-established in 'Bluffmaster'] while Isha Kopikar was a revelation.
 10) Parineeta
Would folks be interested in watching a period flick? Oh gosh, Saif Ali Khan is transitioning from designer clothing to 'dhoti? Isn't it too similar to 'Devdas'? And by the way who is Pradeep Sarkar? All these questions arose from within the industry, but not outside it! People with a good taste for classy flicks loved to watch this sweet'n’emotional tale about childhood love. The movie turned out to be a decent success (especially in multiplexes) while the songs by Shantanu Moitra were pure gems. While Saif Ali Khan was superb, he soon came back on his own with 'Salaam Namaste' through his cool dude act. Vidya Balan came across as a confident actress and one just wishes that she doesn't get slotted as a 'gharelu' actress just like Gracy Singh!
9) Waqt
Subjects like 'Waqt' are reserved for film makers like Suneel Darshan who know best when it comes to making melodramatic tearjerkers. But 'Aankhen' director Vipul Shah took the plunge and moved on from directing an action movie to a flick targeted at family audience. The ever reliable on-screen father-son pairing of Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar was loved by audience once again that made 'Waqt' the only bona fide 'family movie' success of the year. The movie was a huge money spinner abroad as well that facilitated Akshay Kumar's entry in the elite league of the three Khans when it came to overseas clout.
8) Garam Masala
The first of the movies in the list that was a 200% guaranteed winner in the making. It would have been a major surprise if 'Garam Masala' wouldn't have been as big a hit as it is today. The movie may not have been the best entertainer from Priyadarshan and the comparisons with 'Hera Pheri', 'Hungama' and 'Hulchul' were obvious, but that still didn't deter audience from making 'Garam Masala' the only successful movie this 'Diwali' while brushing away competition from 'Kyun Ki' and 'Shaadi No. 1'. The laugh riot mostly shot on a single set was quite inexpensive inspite of Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Paresh Rawal presence and went on to make a lot of money for its makers.
7) Page 3
This is an experiment that worked...and worked in a BIG way. If one looks at the trend so far, most of the films that entertained so far most came with minimal, zero or negative expectations. 'Page 3' too was one of them. Just like 'Hum Aapke Hain Kaun' that was one long marriage video; even 'Page 3' too revolved around the party scene and behind the scenes going-ons. But Madhur Bhandarkar had his convictions at the right place and completed his dream project. There were Preeti Jain accusations et al but that didn't deter people from Mumbai to Bihar to make a beeline for 'Page 3'. This so-called multiplex movie was a success all over as it grew from week to week and sustained wonderfully well. Konkana Sen showed that she is interested in doing something commercial if a good project comes by !
6) Mangal Pandey
Whatever be the fate of the movie, one cannot deny the fact that this Ketan Mehta movie has got a place in history to garner the best first week collections of all times. It was the strange case of audience rejecting the very same movie that they had been waiting to catch hold of for so many years. Blame it on the expectation factor because though this Aamir Khan-Toby Stephens movie was quite entertaining when seen as a routine good v/s evil saga, people were somehow hoping to see a grandeur bio-epic in the making. The movie had its plus points and if only the hype had been controlled, it could have gone an extra distance. 'Rang De Basanti' seems to have learnt from it and one can see the publicity being a lot more subdued!
