Sonu Nigam gets patriotic this Independence Day
IndiaGlitz [Wednesday, August 16, 2006]

Sonu Nigam has sung thousands of songs belonging to distinct genres in his over decade old career. They have been a mix of devotional, romantic, situational, patriotic and item numbers. But this year he gets patriotic as two of his patriotic songs have premiered in quick succession.

The first to come is ‘Yeh Rashtra Prem Ki Bhavna’, which is an independent solo track written by Sonu himself with music by Deepak Pandit. A soulful track with the music video featuring Sonu, it has been premiered on the small screen and has made quite an impact due to its thoughtful lyrics. In fact rather than following the trend of 'Mera Bharat Mahaan', it asks an all important question - "Mera Bharata Mahaan....Kab Hoga?" (When would my country indeed be great?)

The second track for which the actual film picturisation has still to arrive but the in-the-recording-studio version has been unveiled is 'Bande Mein Tha Dum...Vande Mataram'. A fun number with a message from the film 'Lage Raho Munnabhai' which has got a certain Mahatma Gandhi episode to the film along with the antics of Munnabhai and Circuit, this song by Sonu Nigam is slated to be the highlight of the film. Composed by Shantanu Moitra and written by Swanand Kirkire, the song is based on yesteryear's 'Aao Bachcho Tumhe Dikhaye Jhanki Hindustan Ki' [Jagriti]!

This makes it two in a row for Sonu Nigam who has promised his fans that from now they would see more of quality and less of quantity in his songs.
