How dubbing hassles were sorted in "Jai Jagannath"

"JAI  JAGANNATH" is a dream project of Mr. Sabyachani Mohapatra, an International Award winning Director, whose all films are not only critically acclaimed & awarded but also achieved bumper success at the Box Office.  This project was nurtured for more than 10 long years in his heart. The objective of this project is to make a proper film dealing with today's problem, i.e. social justice and women empowerment through interesting stories of our own mythology with latest technology. To make it possible all his five brothers, who are eminent cine technicians in different fields at Mumbai, joined hands, with the same inspiration.

Mr. BHARAT SHAH joined hands to support the project to make it technically excellent, using all modern and latest technology & planted the idea of dubbing the film in all the Regional languages to reach today's audience, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and spread our rich cultual heritage world over.

As per Regional Associations Rules, one can not dub any film from Hindi to other regional languages mainly in Eastern circuit, so it was decided to shoot the film in two original languages i.e. Hindi and Oriya & then to dub from Oriya to Bengali, Assamees and from Hindi to other Regional languages. The most challenging language among all the languages was English. Perhaps for the first time, all six songs of the film were also recorded in English language.  The film is also dubbed in Nepali language as Nepal is the only Hindu country in the world.

Music is a very significant aspect of mythological film which sustains the emotional level of the film at its peak. The legendary Music Director of Orissa Mr Akshaya Mohanty accepted the challenge, inspite of his poor health. The songs were recorded. Unfortunately this film became the last film of his legendary career. Mr. Amar Haldipur has paid his tribute by scoring the background music of the project.

To keep the soul of the film intact, all the artists were selected from Orissa only, (as in a mythology the Star faces have no value) and to make it technically excellent and authentic all the technicians have been chosen from Mumbai.  The film has been shot in real locations at Puri, Orissa and all indoor sets are erected near Mumbai at Umargaon. All the costumes and sets are made to suit the authentication of the period and no pains have been spared cost-wise. Many great technicians joined hands to make possible this gigantic project i.e. Mr. Rahul Nanda & Himanshu Nanda are doing the publicity, all the special effects and title in D.I. effects have been rendered at India's premier Special Effect Centre, PIXION, Mumbai. To make all the language versions efficiently Mr. P.K. Mishra, an eminent FTII  Graduate Sound Recordist  worked dedicatedly round the clock, for the last two years to achieve this immense goal. Mr.Gaurav Gupta & the renowned Sound Recordist Mr. Hintendra Ghosh of Gaurav Digital (Rajkamal Studio) extended whole hearted support and executed the DTS Digital Sound Mixing of all the 15 language versions of the film.  Perhaps, more than six regional languages are getting DTS Digital Sound for the first time.

By the grace of Lord Jagannath, after  2 1/2 years of hard work and dedication now the project is ready. All prestigious and eminent distributors of India are supporting the project to release in a single day world wide. All the 15 language version of the film are going to release on 9th November, 2006, the day of Mahalaxmi Puja, (The film based on Mahalaxmi Puja).

Languages of the film are : Hindi, Oriya, Bengali, Assamee, Chhatisgadi, Bhojpuri, Rajasthani, Punjabi, Gujarati, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Malyalam, Nepali, English
