Udit Narayan is certainly not having a happy 2006!
He has found himself in trouble once again, this time in Delhi, due to a performance he was required to give for a Durga Puja function at Nabapalli Puja Samiti in pocket 40, Chittaranjan Park.
As per Utpal Ghosh, president of the puja committee, the contract stated that Udit would be performing for two hours from 9.30 pm. After being late for the show for more than an hour, the singer allegedly crooned for just about 80 minutes before asking for a break. Later he was spotted walking away.
On the other hand J D Ghatraj, Udit’s manager, negated the allegation saying that they were just 15-20 minutes late. Udit’s wife Deepa Narayan, who was performing with her husband, also added that they did perform for about one and a half hours (as per the contract) but organizers insisted that they sing for two more hours, which was not possible. As per her, some organizers who were drunk, tried to manhandle her and the manager JD.
The matter turned so serious that police had to intervene and both parties, with officials of the event management company who had arranged the function, landing in Kalkaji police station. Deputy Commissioner of police (south) Anil Shukla said that police had received the complaints and were looking into it.
