After a troubled marital period for quite some time, filmmaker Shekhar Kapoor and actress/singer Suchitra Krishnamoorthi have finally called it quits.

They have filed for divorce, by mutual consent, after eight years of marriage. A joint petition, which was filed by the couple in the Bandra family court, will come up for hearing on October 9. The court may take from six months to a year to pass a final order.

During the entire marital period, the couple had been surviving a long distance relationship. While Shekhar was in London to pursue his Hollywood career, Suchitra continued to be at home in India. She recently tried to make a comeback of sorts in a small role in 'My Wife's Murder'. High point in her career was 'Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa' where she starred opposite Shahrukh Khan.

Suchitra refused to comment on the matter. The couple has a six-year old daughter named Kaveri.
