What to watch out for?

Koi Baat Chale

Debuting straight at #1, ‘Koi Baat Chale’ is yet another soul stirring album by the duo of Jagjit Singh and Gulzar who come together again 7 years after their ‘Marasim’. For the lovers of quality music, it is a dream come true to have collaboration like this.

2

1

Aadat - Jal

Might of Jagjit-Gulzar was too much to take for ‘Aadat’ which fell down by a place after enjoying its stint at the top. Also notable is that fact that while last week as many as 3 albums from Pakistan found a place in Top-5, this week it is just ‘Aadat’ which survives the competition at the top.

2

Let The Music Play

Its Punjabi times from here on as each of the three albums that follow have an ample dose of Punjabi music in it. First to come is ‘Let The Music Play’ that has its title song playing on for ages now but is still not out of breath!

7

Party In Punjab

As the New Year’s Eve comes closer, the Punjabi mood in the non-film circuit heats up too. ‘Party In Punjab’ is another superb compilation of Punjabi songs from the ‘desi’ and ‘videsi’ world as it shows a jump of 4 places! The album is sure to go a long distance and stay in the charts for weeks to come.

5

10

Imported Music Across Boundaries

Taking the biggest jump of all, ‘Imported Music Across Boundaries’ moves from #10 to #5 in one week flat! An album which has a very good first half, it would be great to have its publicity centered on Punjabi songs that have actually been imported from abroad because some of the songs in the second half of the album are not as impressive!

6

3

Dance Masti Forever

With a strong Punjabi avalanche in the Top-5, the album that has taken a hit is ‘Dance Masti Forever’. Falling down by 3 places, it is not a positive sign for an album that was on the top just a few weeks back. A fresh new video with a renewed vigor in the publicity and there would be ‘dance’ and ‘masti’ again!

7

4

#1 Rock Stars

‘# Rock Stars’ too sees a fall of 3 places but is unlikely to go down any further. A kind of album that shows consistent sales on the stands, this compilation is for those who have traditionally been lovers of Pakistani music.

8

6

Kailasa

After a one spot decline last week, ‘Kailasa’ goes down by two more positions this week. With numerous other albums by Sukhwinder Singh, Mehnaaz, Josh and others hitting the stands, ‘Kailasa’ would have to really put on a fight to retain its place in the charts!

9

5

Raeth

Taking the biggest blow of the week, ‘Raeth’ sees a mighty fall from being in Top-5 to staring at the bottom of the charts. This one is the surprise of the week since ‘Bhula Do’ had indeed peaked and it was expected that the album would sustain well to result in good sales figures for the album.

10

8

Asian Flava II

It seems to be an end of journey for ‘Asian Flava’ as far as being in the Top-10 charts is concerned. Though consistent sales are expected for the album on the lower end, this Punjabi compilation has more or less ended its run.
