Ever since Vishal Bhardwaj has turned director, he has made sure that Gulzar writes lyrics for his compositions.

Whether it is 'Makdee', 'Maqbool' or 'Omkara', Gulzar and Vishal Bhardwaj have always done something different from routine to come up with a new sound. Commercially the music may have received a varied response at the stands barring 'Omkara' which is one of the topmost selling albums of the year, fact cannot be denied that the two have always endeavored to create music that goes with the film's genre and narrative.

The same is expected in 'Blue Umbrella' too which is their fourth movie together with Vishal acting as both director and composer. What is also interesting is the fact that whenever Gulzar has come behind the camera as a director in recent years, Vishal has been the composer, case in point with 'Maachis' and 'Hu Tu Tu'.
