Top 10 non-film albums – ‘Ustad & The Divas’ zooms into Top-3, new albums fail to disturb Top-10

What to watch out for?

1

1

Let The Music Play – 2

It is hardly a surprise to see ‘Let The Music Play – 2’ rule the charts. Its predecessor ‘Let The Music Play - 1’

was a success story with a dozen odd hit tracks in the compilation and now when 40 odd tracks are stuffed into a compilation, it is bound to disappear like hot cakes from the music stands.

2

2

Koi Baat Chale

That’s the power of quality music. Publicity or no publicity, music videos or no music videos, gimmicks or no gimmicks, when men like Gulzar and Jagjit Singh come together, people listen! Pun intended!

3

8

Ustad & The Divas

It was said last week that the album would reach Top-3 in no time and exactly the same has happened as Ustad along with his Divas has hit the #3 spot in the charts. ‘Leja Leja’ is easily one of the Top-10 songs heard this year while its music video is simply sensational as it tells an emotional tale. Watch out for many more gems in this album by Shreya Ghoshal, Sunidhi Chauhan and Chitra.

4

3

Party In Punjab

After moving up by a pot last week, ‘Party In Punjab’ is back to the same spot as Ustad Sultan Khan zooms into Top-4. A superb compilation that is bound to ignite the scene on New Year’s eve.

5

4

Let The Music Play

Continuing to remain in the Top-5 charts, it is expected to be there for some more time since none of the new albums that have arrived on the stands have made their mark. Be it Sukhwinder Singh’s ‘Dil Se’ or ‘Josh’ or ‘Bilz’ or any of the dozen off compilations, none of them have been able to penetrate into the Top-10 charts in spite of good publicity. Till then – let the music play!

6

6

Aadat - Jal

Albums may come and albums may go but ‘Wo Lamhe’ and ‘Aadat’ would continue to rock. And why not? Much before ‘Jal’ became a household name, Bhatts ensured that the songs get a great mileage in their films ‘Zeher’ and ‘Kayug’ respectively, both of which came last year!

7

5

Imported Music Across Boundaries

Falling down by a couple of spots, ‘Imported’ is a surprise success story of the last quarter of the year since it has managed to survive in the charts in spite of only half its songs being really interesting.

8

9

Raeth

The album is hanging towards the bottom of the charts and that too solely on the basis of ‘Bhula Do’. It is expected that the sales of the album would improve over the next few weeks since the music of video of ‘Tumharay Liye’ is interesting and has managed to catch quite a few eye balls.

9

10

Kailasa

It’s time to say ‘Chak De Phattey’ for Kailash Kher. A year that gave a lot to Kailash after a long struggle, 2006 would go down in the history as the year when Kailash arrived with ‘Kailasa’ and made waves all around.

10

7

Clap On The Beats

Falling down to the bottom of the charts by taking a fall of 3 places, it is a little scary sight for Ashok Masti who had been clapping on the beats all this while. ‘Glassy’ may have been a good hit but what’s the point in hiding other good numbers in the album! Come, get a new music video on and rock the show!
