"FALTU was not so 'faltu'", Prof. Arindam (Planman)
IndiaGlitz [Monday, July 02, 2007]

Planman Motion Pictures, always stimulated to offer classics to the world of Indian Cinema, has been presenting a number of quality movies to the movie lovers in the last couple of years. It is a matter of fact that the movies are not only restricted to the national boundaries now, but also has been appreciated by the international film fraternity.

Of late, the latest movies of Planman Motion Pictures seems to have been on a rampage of international film festivals! After the
Cannes fever , "Faltu", an unusual flick based on the novel 'Ranirghater Brittanto' directed by the famous director Anjan Das has been selected in the SPAIN FILM FESTIVAL. This movie has been selected from India in the competitive category along with 'Omkara' by Vishal Bharadwaj, 'Dor' by Nagesh Kukunoor, 'Maati Maay' by Chitra Palekar, ' Bayo' by Gaiendra Ahire and 'Nottam' by Sashi Paravoor.

After having toured the globe in several prestigious international film festivals and winning numerous awards, Planman Motion Picture's 'Dosar', directed by Rituparno Ghosh was selected in one of the most glamorous and exalted film festivals of the world 'The Cannes International Film Festival', along with the latest production 'Mithya', directed by Rajat Kapoor also being invited.

And now Planman will again experience yet another opportunity in the Spain Film Festival this time. In a single year, three movies from the banner of Planman Motion Pictures have been selected and invited in the International Film Festivals till date. This shows the quality of the movie it produces and the potential of success it has in the future.

Recently 'Faltu' also grabbed almost all the major awards being the Best Film, Best Director, Best Story, Best Makeup, Best Script and the Best Supporting Actor- Indrani Halder in the Bengali Film Journalists Association (BFJA)- Award in Kolkata.

With 'Faltu', Anjan Das has tackled the most difficult text in trying to translate it into cinema. Based on Syed Mustafa Siraj's 'Ranir Ghatter Brittanto', the film traced the lives of some uprooted people, a mad woman and her offspring-Faltu who has the quest for his identity. Anjan Das, a high class director has presented a number of unusual and challenging films till date. His earlier film based on literature were 'Sanjbatir Roopkatha' was also an out of the box venture which was highly acclaimed by the viewers.

"'Faltu' was not so faltu (good-for-nothing) after all, and the honour we are receiving now makes me on top of the world. It is a different movie which has caught the attention of the critics and the serious and meaningful movie lovers as well. We are happy that this movie has been given its due recognition and admiration that it truly worths. This is a motivation for us to continue making good films that touch the realities of life and the finer emotions of the viewers.", shared  Prof. Arindam Chaudhuri of Planman Motion Pictures.

With the perpetual aim of producing quality films, Planman is on the floors with their upcoming ventures " MITHYA", " SUNGLASS" and an English film 'THE LAST LEAR' with Big B Amitabh Bachchan and pretty Preity Zinta this year.

Planman Motion Pictures have always proved to have excelled in their venture. They do have a lot to offer the movie lovers in the days to come. In short the journey of Planman continues……….
