The lengths to which directors demands stretch can leave the people trying to get it done flabbergasted!
Take the case of Director Anurag kashyap’s search for the perfect street child to play the juvenile delinquent for his ‘Pramod Bhai 23’ for his take on Mumbai for Mumbai cutting.
Kashyap was bent on casting three kids in his film so the production house White cloud went scouting the length and breadth of Mumbai searching for children for the audition. Things went to the extent that at one point there were 150 children crowding the production house!
No sir, that wasn’t the end. Anurag Saab was still not satisfied so away they went looking this time to the orphanages to find that perfect child who can give life to Kashap’s character.
And at last they found him in Mustaq from the Salaam Balak Trust. The portrayal of the boy was as per what Anurag gauged in these homes. Mustaq was a clean choice because he already exhibited the personality needed both in the way of speech and body language. So it was easy for him to get into the skin of the character.
To keep the originality intact the film was canned on location in the Dongri and Matunga juvenile remand homes not only that even the dialect of the boys in these homes were incorporated in the dialogues.
Do we call these perfection or what?
