For each of the path breaking films which established him as one of the best directors to come out of Bollywood in the recent time, he has received a national award.
 
Madhur Bhandarkar first won the award for the highly acclaimed film 'Chandini Bar' released in 2001. The film was both a commercial and critical success.

'Page 3' which is one of the most successful movies of Madhur and is a fully urban film fetched him his second national award.

'Traffic Signal' which again had the distinctive stamp of the film making style of its creator was not able to match the box office success of his previous hit movies but still hits the bulls eye and enabled him to get his third national award.
 
What made the third award all the more sweet for him was that Madhur Bhandarkar never expected to get his third award for 'Traffic Signal'.

On June 14 the film maker celebrated his national award hat trick in Mumbai with actor Arjan Bajwa, director Ashok Pundit and Lehren Media Pvt. Ltd M.D. Mritunjay Pandey.
 
Madhur cut a big chocolate cake starting the celebrations.
 
This director can't be called as a veteran in the film industry but he has shown the guts to believe in the kind of stories that he decides to make into films.

There is enough and more time for this film maker to come out with more better and different films as he has just started the journey.
