Poland is Bollywood's new lover
IndiaGlitz [Friday, October 03, 2008]

Poland is one of the fastest growing international markets of Bollywood. The growth may be slow, but the presence and preference being cornered by the Hindi films are definitely increasing.

Years ago, when Bollywood was in no way near to the strength, reach and money power it enjoys now, the song and dance portions and the clean family oriented stories were looked down and labeled by the film lovers as well as several critiques to be something that makes it unattractive to the foreigners.

But the very same songs and dances are now regarded as a positive factor and  elements that gives the Hindi Film Industry a strong cultural identity and a specialty with an exotic touch.

In Poland, the Bollywood films only entered the popular consciousness around ten years back.

The movie which will be always remembered as one which increased the attraction is 'Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham'.

The film which had Sharukh Khan who is the most loved Indian actor in Poland was released in the European country only in 2005.

But it became very famous and initiated a huge number of natives to the world of Hindi films.

The main reasons which attract the people of Poland to Bollywood fare are the kind of emotions exhibited in the films, the element of love, the use of bright colours and spicy music, the songs, the dances and the positive mood of most of the movies.

Now a Polish newspaper has turned to Bollywood to rejuvenate its dipping sales.

As a way to make people buy the paper, a DVD of a famous B-Town movie with polish subtitles is being offered at a lowered price to the readers.

Even with a payment to be made although small, the method has worked magic and the result was quick.

The circulation of the newspaper named as "Gazeta Wyborcza" has gone up by 50,000 copies.

This new craze for Bollywood products has triggered of a new found interest towards the Indian languages especially Hindi, culture and music.

In a country where the languages spoken are Polish, German, Byelorussian, Kashubian and Russian, the steady growth in popularity of Hindi films is indeed an achievement for India to be proud of.

This new found craze can be increased efficiently with more marketing tricks to widen the reach of Bollywood.
