UTV cuts down relationships with Pakistan
IndiaGlitz [Tuesday, December 23, 2008]

One of the world's leading productions houses, UTV Software Communications Ltd. has officially announced that it temporarily withdraws its dealings with Pakistan. This is in favor of extending its support for Indian Government in demanding stricter action against terrorism emanating from Pakistan. As an impermanent decision, UTV wouldn't release any of its forthcoming films in Pakistan until the issues are resolved. Also UTV is withdrawing plans of launching Bindass and Bindass Movies, two prominent channels from its stable, in this market.

Clarifying on this issue, Siddarth Roy Kapur, CEO of UTV Motion Pictures said, "We have a great market in Pakistan and of course we have the highest regard for its people but in the present situation it is important for all companies to support our government in its demand for strong action by the government of Pakistan against terrorism"

Also added, they would feel elated to resume business in Pakistan once we all see affirmative action. It's been a wonderful relationship so far between the production house and distributors over there. Certain scenarios are really unfortunate and everyone hopes that this matter is resolved between the two governments at the earliest…
