Vishal hopes for the best
IndiaGlitz [Tuesday, January 06, 2009]

Ask the regular hardcore rock music concert devotees in India and they will be able to give an account of the prowess of the vocalist Vishal Dadlani in making the whole crowd go crazy grooving to the power packed music of the band 'Pentagram'.

Years before the Bollywood discovered his talent, the rock freaks knew the man who whenever on stage never seemed to get tired even after continuous head banging, jumping and his unique chest thumping displayed in the heights of musical ecstasy.

Vishal showed that his aggressive persona while performing live is not limited to the borders of a stage but he can do much more than just giving life to all kinds of music.

He was one of the citizens of this country who was swift in acting according to own conscience and he pointed out a major blunder that happened during the mayhem witnessed during the days of the terrorist attack in Mumbai and went for  immediate action.

He filed a petition against the live media coverage of the 26/11 attacks.

Recently Vishal who was following up the case received an update from the court informing that the petition is in the petition department now and sometime later according to the time taken by the procedures it will be converted into a PIL (public interest litigation).

The live coverage done by several leading channels during the siege of the two star hotels in the city had actually enabled the leaders of the terrorists sitting elsewhere to actually see the preparations that were being taken outside the hotels and pass on the information to the extremists who were holed up inside.

Vishal says "The court will call for the channels to submit their footage over that time. They will also hopefully issue those guidelines or form a body to issue those guidelines which are legally enforceable. The Television channels have already made these guidelines that should be enforced public so all that we have to do is make these guidelines enforceable by law. So hopefully, we will try and make that happen".

Just like every Indian who detests the way the system of administration happens in the country and the pathetically slow movement of the reforms, Vishal too got irritated and as a result a thought of forming a political party arose in his mind.

But later on it struck him that following the thought of his own political outfit is absurd and working towards something that is worthy and one which can bring about some changes is the more practical and fruitful approach.

Vishal says "As a citizen I want to change the way everything is run in the country and make this the best place in the world to stay in. It is not possible for me to do this alone but if every Indian thinks like this we can really do something. I am not looking at running for elections. I do not want to be a politician but I do want a good set of decent, accountable and educated politicians representing the people at the centre".

The musician has done whatever he could and hopes that thousands of people will sign the public interest litigation and if that happens then the court will issue a directive to the government to make a code of conduct for the press to strictly follow during situations like a terrorist attack.
