A New Trend in Bollywood
IndiaGlitz [Monday, April 06, 2009]

Music directors are no longer wrapping up their day after a good composing session; they are going one step further and singing in one another’s films also! This is according to Vishal Dadlani who is one half of the wildly popular Vishal and Shekhar.

Vishal, known for his sensational tunes, reveals that Shekhar recently lent his voice to a Shanka-Ehsaan-Loy song. In the past Vishal himself has sung for the likes of Pritam Chakraborty and Rakesh Roshan. The composer believes that a music director singing a song brings a whole new level to the tune for e.g when Shankar sang for Desi Girl in Dostana. The latest song rendered by Vishal is Nazaara hai in the film 8x10 Tasveer for Salim-Sulaiman, and also a forthcoming track for Kaminey by Vishal Bharadwaj.

Vishal and Shekar’s first hit was the song Musu Musu from Pyar Mein Kabhi Kabhi in 1999. Then came a string of hits in films like Om Shanti Om, Salaam Namaste, Tashan and Dostana to name a few. Vishal, who is also the singer in the Mumbai-based electronic band Pentagram, states that his road to success was pretty smooth. In the light of that, he wants to unearth and groom new talent.
