Director Mani Ratnam’s sudden hospitalization left the film industry shaken to the core. The talented director, who has a history of heart complaint, was admitted to the Apollo Hospital in Chennai when he complained of uneasiness. It all happened in the blink of an eye when Ratnam was hard at work on a song for Raavana, with lyricist Gulzar and music genius A.R.Rahman.

But what’s surprising is that Ratnam, who is known in the industry circles as being a very reclusive individual, admitted himself into the hospital! When he felt a certain restlessness come over him, he excused himself and left the recording studio to drive to Apollo. There, without notifying anybody, he checked himself in. Doctors have given Ratnam a clean chit of health but he’s expected to be kept under observation.

The workaholic director is already discussing the next schedule for the movie from his hospital bed. Raavana has 90 days of shooting left with the lead heroine Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan. But she’s reportedly extremely busy with her other commitments and there might be a clash of dates.
