BIG Animation, a Reliance Big Entertainment company, recently launched its animation education wing BIG Animation Infotainment & Media School (BIG AIMS).The institute stands on 10,000 sq ft space in Pune, and is expected to contribute to the emerging animation industry in India. The school will function both as a finishing school for advanced learning as well as a centre for specialization. All students who passed the 12th standard and have done an art/animation course will be eligible to apply.

BIG Animation CEO Ashish SK released a statement that the syllabus has been drafted after researching "feature film and high-end pipelines and the ideation-to-script-to-screen process for  both outsourcing and IP creation." The courses are expected to bridge the gap between the industry and academia.

The school will further invite local and international animation experts to lecture in the classes. Ashish also confirmed that the courses were desgined keeping in mind employability quotient after school.

The institute is offering full-time one-year diplomas in 3D pipeline and digital 2D. Rounding off the courses will be  short term programs in pre and post-production and Smoke and Flame suites. The institute is state-of-the-art and has been equipped with the latest in animation technology: Quad-core workstations, high-end projectors,
light-boxes for traditional animation, Cintiq machines for digital work and Smoke and Flame systems for online editing and compositing.
