PVR Cinemas, India’s largest cinema chain had hosted a grand green carpet premiere of ‘The Age of Stupid’ recently at its theatres in Mumbai… Well, what’ so unique with ‘Green Carpet Welcome’? It’s merely implying the film’s theme about promoting ‘Green Revolution’...
Oscar Nominated Filmmaker Shekar Kapur was present at the screening in the evening after he spoke from the Himalayan glaciers in the morning and beamed into the premiere at New York.
The movie is an animated Docu-Drama by Director Franny Armstrong (McLibel and Drowned Out fame) and Producer John Battsek and highlights Climate change, politics, consumerism, human stupidity and the affects of Global Warming on Earth. Pete ostlethwaite stars as a man living alone in the devastated future world of 2055, looking at an old footage from 2008 and asking “why didn’t we stop climate change when we had the chance”.
After its release in UK cinemas on 20 March 2009, now on September 21st / 22nd, on the eve of the UN General Assembly's climate session, ‘The Age of Stupid’ was launched internationally at the biggest and greenest live film event the world has ever seen.
As an Inclusive, rather than Exclusive event, PVR shows once again its social awareness by being part of such a noble event.
