Paa is a trip – Abhishek Bachchan
IndiaGlitz [Saturday, November 14, 2009]

One may be really amused the way the promos are shown. One may even wonder about the realities behind the real characters of ‘Paa’. Those were the days when Amitabh Bachchan used to pamper his son Abhishek and carry on his back. And here in ‘Paa’, we see the reversal of roles. So lucky the father is, to enjoy being a kid again in the hands of his own son. More amusing, to have Big B calling Abhishek his Pa.

“All the paternal instincts in the roles have been references of his own childhood. My Paa often carried me on his back. Now I am carrying him on my back in the movie. I have tried to as good as him. Paa was very naughty on the sets. He had a whale of a time playing a kid in the movie,” recounts Abhishek. Taking advantage of the situation, Abhishek enjoyed being the upper hand on the shoots – asking Big B to eat his food on time and go to bed on time. “Only when his make up was off he was my Paa again. The relationships we are exploring here is different. Paa is a trip,” said the Junior B.

Truly, totally new experience, we say – Abhishek watching his dad to transform into a child, to experience his bygone childhood.  “What I was surprised was at the energy with which he attempted the role. He was fantastic. He has also sung a song in the voice of a 13 year old. I don’t think anybody will be able to match up-to him,” gushed Abhishek.

Even Vidya Balan, who plays the mother of Amitabh Bachchan in the movie, had her share of fun experience in the making of the movie.

A scene required Vidya to carry a child, who is playing the younger version of Amitabh Bachchan in 'Paa', on her shoulders. According to sources on sets, “Vidya weighs 45 kgs and so did the boy. Vidya carried him on her shoulders nevertheless. Suddenly there was this loud thud and people saw that she had lost balance and fallen on the ground along with the boy. The actress still completed the shot.”

Directed by Balki, ‘Paa’ tells a story about a 13 year old child suffering from Progeria and is based on the relationship between a son and a father. Amitabh Bachchan is featured as the child named Auro. Abhishek plays the role of the father, as Amol Arte – a young politician while Vidya is the mother, a gynaecologist.Besides, Paresh Rawal also supports the movie’s story.

The movie will hit the screens on 4th December.
