Filmmaker Krishna Shah is coming up with a movie based on our former lady Prime Minister Late Indira Gandhi. And the actress who is going to step into this prestigious role is our Dhak Dhak Madhuri Dixit!
It was the 92nd birth anniversary of Indira Gandhi yesterday and to commemorate the day the director made an announcement about the movie. Titled as ‘Mother: The Indira Gandhi Story’, this two-part global epic project will include Nana Patekar as Jaiprakash Narayan, Dharmendra as Motilal Nehru, and Abhay Deol as Rajiv Gandhi. It is also said that the movie will feature Hollywood stars like Tom Hanks and Tommy Lee Jones to play the important English characters. Shooting will include locales of India, UK, US, Pakistan and Russia and the movie is expected to go on floors in mid-2010.
The movie will be produced by Shah’s production company, Movie Moghuls, and reported be a high budgeted project. “It's such an exciting, dramatic story. The canvas of her life is too big to be contained in one film,” said Shah who is said to have been working on the script for nearly 20 years.
Krishna Shah, known for his crossover movies, had given earlier Shalimar (1978) which included both Indian and Hollywood actors as well, although the movie failed at the BO. The filmmaker is bringing up this project with a view “to create the connect between people and their history and legacy”.
“This is the most ambitious project of my life. We are looking at a scale of Sir Attenborough’s Gandhi and are in conversations with various Bollywood and Hollywood studios to fund the production,” said Shah
