 Veteran actor Om Puri who has successfully completed 35 years in Indian cinema spoke from his heart at the International Film Festival on at Goa on Wednesday.
Known for his open talk, Om Puri said, “The 'New Wave' cinema which had begun during the 80s has gradually lost itself. I would not say it is finished but it has reshaped. There are still a few filmmakers like Prakash Jha, Vishal Bharadwaj and Ashutosh Gowariker who are doing good films with a commercial touch,” said Puri.
Also on the occasion, he released his autobiography 'Unlikely Hero: The Story of Om Puri' and spoke about his next movie 'West is West'.
Puri has worked in numerous Indian films and also in many movies produced in the United Kingdom and the United States. He made his film debut in the 1976 film Ghashiram Kotwal, a film based on a Marathi play of the same name. Winner of many National awards and acclaims, Om Puri is keen to work in meaningful roles.
