In one of the dismal performances in recent times, Mollywood was asked to satisfy themselves with a lone special mention of 'Sherry's 'Adimadhyantham' in the year's National awards, announced yesterday. Renjith's 'Indian Rupee' was selected as the best Malayalam film, but no other movie managed to fetch any other important awards.
Though this has been the most pathetic performances of Malayalam films, many malayalees had been named in the recipient lists for their good works in other language films. The most important among them is that of director Suveeran, whose Kannada movie 'Byari' was selected as the best film of the year. Malayalee actress Malllika also got special mention for her role of Nadhira in this movie.
While another Keralite Vidhya Balan was named the best female actress for her role in 'Dirty picture', malayalee child artist sanath menon also got into the list of best child artists for his performance in the Hindi film 'Chillar Party'.
In the nonfiction section, malayalee sound recordist Goutham Nair got the award for his work in the Hindi film '1, 2..'. The narration of 'Just that sort of a day' grabbed Ann Abraham' the award for best narration. The other important awards of the year are listed below.
