Despite the sensitive subject of sperm donation, 'Vicky Donor' has turned out to a much appreciated film with good applause and laughter coming it's way from all quarters. An important element that has made this possible is first timer Ayushmann Khurana who has impressed one and all with his natural act.
"When we were writing the film, I and my writer had decided before hand itself that we won't go to a star with this film", admits Shoojit Sircar, the film's director, "We wanted to bring in a fresh actor who would bring on a smile with his very appearance and I didn't want any excess baggage that would have to be removed off an established star."
However wasn't there ever a temptation to get a bigger young star like a Ranbir Kapoor, Imran Khan or Shahid Kapoor. After all, that would have made the film furthermore market friendly and also economically viable.
"No", pronto comes a response from Shoojit, "Since the very beginning John and I were sure that we would get a fresh boy for the film. See, the point here is that I have to tell the story right. Whether I get a star or not is rudimentary; I have to just keep moving ahead. Moreover both John and I like Ayushmann as a person. He was the best choice for the film and audience reaction to him is a testimony of that."
Of course, we can see that!
