"I would be happy to do a sweet romcom" - Arjun Kapoor

IndiaGlitz [Monday, June 04, 2012]

Now that 'Ishaqzaade' has emerged as a superhit, what with over 45 crores in collections already, it is clear that as Parma, Arjun Kapoor has been expected. Now one looks forward to the direction he is expected to take in films to come. Going by his personality, does Arjun really see himself fitting into a conventional romcom genre?

"Frankly, even though it may sound clichéd, I have never got into much of a thinking around what I want to do and what I wish to avoid", says Arjun who was earlier supposed to make his debut with 'Virus Diwan' (which was eventually shelved), "I am open for everything and want to be seen as an actor who can do everything. I am not restricting myself to any characterisation and don't wish to get typecast. So yes, to answer your question I would be more than happy to do a sweet romcom or for that matter a proper commercial hardcore masala film."

Contractually bound by a contract with Yash Raj Films for three films (though he has the flexibility to work with others as well in the interim period), Arjun is all set to start work on his next with the production house - 'Aurangzeb'. An avid film watcher, he is also pretty clued in to the trends in the industry worldwide though he is sure that the cinema that he does would be commercial.

He smiles, "After all I am a producer's son so no matter who is producing my film, I would be always conscious of the fact that no one should lose any money. I dream of doing all sorts of cinema while keeping in mind that every film of mine has to be commercially viable at least."
