Inspired by newspaper headlines, 'No One Killed Jessica' was made and the film fetched critical as well as commercial acclaim.
Now Vikram Bhatt too is inspired by the Rani Mukherjee-Vidya Balan and is making a film on the same lines, albeit with a different subject.
"This film would have its roots in medical negligence. It is about this boy who dies on the operation table.
Titled 'Ankur Arora Murder Case', the film is inspired by a real life incident. Sadly, this case didn't find as much social awakening and a widespread public movement, as was the case with 'No One Killed Jessica'.
However, Vikram aspires to bring some of the deadly secrets out in open with this medical thriller", informs our source.
The film would feature Arjun Mathur in lead along with K.K. Menon, Vishakha Singh and Tisca Chopra.
Vikram's discovery Paoli Dam, who was last seen in his 'Hate Story', would be seen in an important part as well. Just like 'Hate Story', Vikram is entrusting another director to call the shots.
"Suhail Tatari would be directing 'Ankur Tiwari Murder Case'. He begins shooting next month itself", the source adds.
Over the years, acclaimed American novelist Robin Cook has been famous for spinning quite a few stories around medical thrillers. However Vikram denies using any of his books as a reference point.
Says Vikram, "We don't have to look elsewhere since this tragic tale happened right here in India. 'No One Killed Jessica' is a reference point because even in that film it was shown how an innocent girl was killed and then further lack of accountability resulted in justice being denied to the victim's family.
Similarly 'Ankur Arora Murder Case' also bears similar theme. We are saying that Ankur Arora didn't die just because doctors failed to save him. Instead, it was plain murder."
