Believe it or not but even Manisha Koirala forgot that she had once acted in a horror film! Though it is being widely believed that 'Bhoot Returns' is her first horror film in a career spanning over 20 years and 75 films, it was just revealed that she had actually acted in one. The film was titled 'Anjaane: The Unknown' and the film had seen such a nondescript release that even Manisha forgot all about it.
"The film was released way back in 2005 and was heavily inspired by Nicole Kidman starrer 'The Others'", informs a source, "Manisha's co-star in the film was Sanjay Kapoor. It was neither promoted nor released properly. Even for the director (Harryy W. Fernaandes) it was his first and last film. Manisha too forgot all about it since this was the time when she had started packing her bags and wasn't really as active in Bollywood as before. This was one of her backlog films and she too just moved on with her personal life soon after."
However the unearthing of this 'skeleton from the closet' was amusing for Manisha as well. Even though she struggled to even remember the correct name of the film, she now feels that 'Bhoot Returns' is actually her true blue horror film.
"Yes, I had in fact forgotten all about 'Anjaane' before someone reminded me of that", smiles Manisha, "Of course it did touch upon spirits and that was at a very peripheral level. 'Bhoot Returns' is my main horror film though. This was a newer experience for me, more so since I enjoy working with RGV. Moreover I am happy with the fact that despite a haunted surrounding, my character is not over the top."
Hope the ghosts of the past don't return to haunt Manisha this time around.
