In a rare conversation post the reprieve that he got from Supreme Court after being freed of all charges pertaining to the infamous rape case, filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar acknowledges the fact that an all-around support from media is something that he cherished immensely through his period of turmoil.
"Completely agree with that", says Madhur, "They have always been supportive and from the time I became Madhur Bhandarkar since the days of 'Chandni Bar', it has been said that I am a media friendly guy. In fact that has almost become an adjective. I always meet with them and connect well. However beyond that I am absolutely in my cocoon as on returning him, I love to read books, watch movies and step into my own world."
However from the time the case was filed against him till as good as the recent times when he was acquitted, it is obvious that Madhur must have realised his true friends and acquaintances, especially from the industry. Has this been a learning curve in his life as a professional as well?
"I have never analysed that what a person thinks of me. I don't belong to any coterie or camp. Nobody would say that Madhur Bhandarkar belongs to this camp or that, no never! I am good to everybody and they are good to me. I have absolutely nothing persona with anyone and similarly I have cordial relationships with everyone", he says in a matter of fact tone.
He adds, "Ultimately one must remember this thing in life that eventually you would be remembered for your films and not your personal life. There are so many filmmakers out there abroad as well but we always know them and remember them by their films."
