Yet another remake is going to have an entry on the big screen. The super hit of 1971 'Mere Apne', starring late Meena Kumari, Vinod Khanna and Shatrughan Sinha in lead, is the one which is next going to have the new version.

According to sources, producer Sunil Bohra has purchased the film's rights from the original producers Romu and Raj Sippy. 'Mere Apne', incidentally, is the directorial debut of Gulzar and Meena Kumari's last film.

The story of the film deals with two warring gangsters who come together for their love for a lonely, abandoned woman (Meena Kumari). Apparently the script of the remake will be twisted to suit the contemporary audience.

It is said that both Romu and Raj were initially apprehensive to part with the film's rights. However Bohra managed to convince them impressively and bought the remake rights for a whopping amount of Rs.1 crore.

While the cast and crew of 'Mere Apne' remake is yet to finalised, names of A-list actors Imran Khan, Ranbir Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan is making rounds.
