'Life of Pi' has turned out to be a surprise success at the box office. After opening well over the weekend gone by, it has also sustained in the weekdays, hence lending Irrfan Khan his biggest ever commercial success till date.
That despite the fact that the film has been made in English and was basically targeted at niche audience.
When contacted, Irrfan said, "I think it is also a sign of changing times. Because of all the social media coming in, if there is something extraordinary then it is being noticed.
This is a very interesting time for the film industry. It is in a nourishing period and audience is eager and hungry to see original stories coming from our own country and finding an international visibility. They are lapping up everything which is good in the offering."
With audience giving thumbs up to the film and Irrfan's act, this is the second instance in the same year after 'Paan Singh Tomar' that Irrfan has emerged victorious and that too on his own merits, terms and conditions.
