Is 'Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola' being pitched entirely as an ensemble affair instead of a film being led by Imran Khan? That's the sense being generated if the promos are any indication.
"For starters, there is way too much emphasis on Pankaj Kapur. Agreed that he is a terrific actor and shares a very good working and personal relationship with Vishal Bhardwaj. They have delivered a fantastic 'Maqbool' together and even given a sweet little film called 'The Blue Umbrella'.
However it is quite apparent that there is way too much of Kapur currently. In the middle of this all, one somehow feels that Imran should have been a lot more present", comments an observer.
Similar sentiments were invoked after looking at the recent promo that was unveiled along with 'Talaash'. An extended sequence has showcased Pankaj Kapur snoring away to glory and in the process has turned out to be a tad too lengthy.
"Not just that as in the given promo, even Anushka has a very good presence as she dances along with Arya Babbar", the observer adds.
However those familiar with Vishal's work vouch for the fact that all should eventually be well.
"Even in his most acclaimed film till date, 'Omkara', no one could say whether Ajay Devgn, Saif Ali Khan or Kareena Kapoor had a part better than the other.
They may have had differing screen time but their presence in the film was essential. Just wait and watch, each one of them, right from Imran, Anushka and Pankaj Kapur, would make sense to the plot", says the source.
Well, we do hope that's indeed the case.
