Farhan & Ritesh Sidhwani embarrassed with 'Fukrey'

IndiaGlitz [Thursday, March 21, 2013]

Since the time it was introduced, Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's forthcoming film 'Fukrey' has been generating lots of curiosity over its title... While 'Fukrey' means useless guys in colloquial Delhi slang and also sums up the theme of the film, not many people are aware of the word outside the region.

Ultimately the makers end up explaining the meaning of the title to anyone who ask about it; in a way finding it tiring to do so every time...

And so for the first time, Excel Entertainment has planned to change the title of 'Fukrey' even after they have launched the poster. According to our sources, both Farhan and Ritesh are more than embarrassed as no one knows the exact meaning of Fukrey.

Everyone in their friend circles and industry feel it's a smart way of saying Fuckrey without censor hassles. And they have to actually go to lengths to explain that it means lukha / vella in Delhi or north Indian colloquial language.

Wherever the duo goes, everyone just comes up with one question, what exactly does Fukrey mean? And both get into lengthy explanations.

Every college student in Delhi or north would recognize the title as a colloquial name for useless guy or wasted guy. However rest of India is oblivion to this lingo. And since this films appeal is pan India they would have to find a title that resonates with a lot of more people.

Movie is always recognized by its title so the producer duo is thinking of changing the title now to avoid the confusion once the communication (theatrical trailer and promos) breaks.
