She may not be the drop-dead gorgeous kinds but what makes Meera Vasudevan click with the masses and filmmakers is her radiant smile and the simplicity that shows on her face.
The girl, who shot into fame with the immensely popular "Om Cricketayo Namah" advertisement during the cricket World Cup last year, attained popularity with her debut film "Rules - Pyar Ka Superhit Formula".
Meera decided to play by the rules. She took a break from acting to get herself into perfect shape to face the competition in the film world. Hence a self-imposed exile for almost eight months.
During this period Meera's routine has been full of exercising, workouts and strict food control. Of course to keep herself in circulation, she did a few commercials, including a recently shot one with E. Niwas.
In Ajeet Sinha's "Husn", she is paired along with Shawar Ali, Meghna Naidu and Gulshan Grover; while she plays the love angle to newcomer Atin Bhalla in Vimal Kumar's "Ishq Ishq".
Meera has also signed up with Rakesh Sawant for a yet untitled film, with Kabir Bedi and Jayaprada. The film is a remake of the Hollywood super hit "Scream".
While the shooting for all three films has begun simultaneously, Meera is also wrapping up a Tamil film called "Aravumani".
Coming from a conservative Tamil background, Meera feels her greatest plus point is her simplicity and her girl-next-door attitude.
"Today the audience loves characters who they can directly identify with. Being extra glamorous may be an advantage for some actresses, but I believe, at the end of the day, acting is what matters to an actress and not merely looks," says the actress.
