One of the iconic actors and favourite villains of B-town, Pran has been awarded with the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke Award, the highest cine honour, in recognition to his outstanding contribution to the growth and development of Indian cinema.
The 93-year-old actor, who is best known for his performance in 'Zanjeer' and 'Don', is said to receive the award on 3rd May, which incidentally marks the 100th year of Indian Cinema.
Amitabh Bachchan, Pran's close friend and also who have done several films together, expressed his congratulations to the veteran actor through micro-blogging site, "A glorious tribute to a great human and a large pillar of the Indian Film Industry .. PRAN..the Dada Saheb Phalke award by the state."
In another social networking site, Big B had also written, "Pran sahib wins the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke Award .. much deserved .. a true gentleman and a great friend .. wishing him continuous good health .. and many congratulations." Adding that the megastar wrote, "Pran Saheb and I worked on many films together .. a fine colleague to have on set, disciplined and punctual and most professional." The two are well remembered for their "Yaari" through the song from 'Zanjeer', "Yaari Hai Imaan".
