After days of speculations, it has been now confirmed that the young Sasha is indeed rendering her voice for a song, in her debut Yasj Raj Films' 'Aurangzeb'.
The newbie has sung "Barbaadiyaan" - a club track that has been filmed on Sasha and Arjun Kapoor, who plays the male lead. The daughter of popular singer and actress Salma Agha, Sasha had always insisted that she wanted to make a career in acting and singing simultaneously. And here she is realising her dream with 'Aurangzeb'. "I have learnt singing from my mom and I don't plan to give it up because I am very passionate about it," said Sasha recently completed recording for the song.
Saying that music runs in her family, Sasha added, "Musicians Sajid and Wajid are my maternal uncles. My stepsister is the famous English singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Natasha Khan, who goes by the stage name Bat for Lashes. My great grandfather was Jugal Kishore Mehra, who was Raj Kapoor's uncle and married to Anwari Begum - the famous singer. My grandmother Nusrin Agha, was a well-known singer as well. So in a way, I am the fourth generation singer in my family."
A source close to the film revealed, "Aditya Chopra (producer) managed to convince Sasheh to sing a peppy number titled 'Barbaadiyaan'. He decided to rope her in after he heard her voice during her audition."
The source went on, "She is a trained singer from the Kirana Gharana and has been practising vocals ever since she was a child, so this was not a difficult task for her."
Confirming the news a spokesperson from Yash Raj Films stated, "Yes, Sasha has sung this beautiful track (for the film). Her voice is as melodious as her mother's."
Releasing on 17th May 2013, 'Aurangzeb' also has Prithviraj, Rishi Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Sikandar Kher, Amrita Singh, Deepti Naval, Tanvi Azmi, and Swara Bhaskar in pivotal roles.
