Gustad lied to us, says Nadia Khan's family

IANS [Thursday, June 03, 2004]

The family of British Pakistani Nadia Khan has alleged that director Kaizad Gustad lied to them about the circumstances of her death in Mumbai.

Khan's friends and family are angry at the way the accident was handled.

Khan was knocked down by a train while assisting on Gustad's film "Mumbai Central" though the crew initially maintained it was a road accident.

According to her sister Ruby Rizvi: "We were lied to about Nadia's death.

"When Kaizad flew over with Nadia's body, he kept saying it was an automobile accident. It was only when he was leaving that he said, 'By the way, I think it was a train.' We were shocked."

The family said hospital workers and police were told that Khan's death was a car accident because the film's makers did not have permission to shoot on the rail track where she was killed.
