Another prolific celeb who turns a year older is first-rate director cum producer Maniratnam. The "Uyire" director turns 57 today and yet his movies are fresh and alluring. His name is not something to be shrugged off easily as he redefined Tamil Cinema with some path breaking direction that cuts across local and national flavors.
He has always been controversies favorite child for the movies which he makes are always sensitive and trends the most budding issues. Some of his movies MounaRagam, Roja, Uyire, Agninatchathiram, Kannathil Muthamital, Nayagan, Alaipayuthey and a lot more are just legends basically. These movies nailed themselves as trendsetters for so many movies to come. He also made movies by adapting India's historical epics "Mahabarat" and "Ramayana" into "Thalapathy" and "Raavaan".
The steel grits of Mani is something which Indian Cinema has never foreseen, be it showcasing the Hindu - Muslim unity or Indo - Pak rivalry, nobody has ever put in such a way. He is a film maker who is passionate about bringing the relatively untold side of the story known, that's one his biggest success mantra.
He is also largely credited for introducing many technicians, not to forget the Oscar Nayagan AR Rahman, the duo share a special bond that dates back till Roja. He also owns Madras Talkies and his wife Suhassini is also a pretty known face in South Indian cinema.
From the team of Indiaglitz and our ardent readers, we wish Mani sir a super-duper birthday and all the very best for his upcoming flicks.
