Zia-ul Haq's daughter at 'Doobara' music launch
IANS [Friday, June 25, 2004]

The music of Sashi Ranjan's film "Doobara" was launched by prominent people like Mahesh Bhatt and Shatrughan Sinha here. But the presence of former Pakistan president Zia-ul Haq's daughter Zian made it all the more interesting.

She had come on a special invitation given by Sinha, a close buddy of filmmaker Sashi Ranjan.

Zian said this was her third visit. She said she enjoyed Hindi films and "Dil To Paagal Hai" was her favourite film.

"Doobara" is a love story between Jackie Shroff, who plays a middle-aged married man, and Raveena Tandon, who plays his ex-girlfriend, told as a thriller.

The cast includes Mahima Chowdhry, who plays Jackie's wife, Gulshan Grover, Soni Razdan, Vikram, Hemant Pradeep and Raju Pandit. Pakistani actor Muammar Rana plays a cameo.

Raveena plays a schizophrenic who comes into Jackie's life after 13 years. Jackie and Raveena were in a live-in relationship at one point when Raveena's problems caused them to break up and part ways.

Jackie went on to marry Mahima, a psychiatrist. They were leading a blissful married life when Raveena decided to come back into their life.

The movie then traces back their relationship and Raveena's efforts to win over Jackie again.
