It was a 'starry' night at Hyderabad where the annual Filmfare awards were presented on Saturday night.

Stars from south Indian film languages besides who's who of Bollywood gathered on the occasion which saw some electrifying dance and musical performances.

Among those who attended the mega event include Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Vijay, Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Venkatesh, Trisha, Ileana, Bhavana and Genelia.

Adding more charm to the function was catchy dance shows rendered by Simran and Malavika.

Ajith has been chosen as the best actor for his excellent portrayal in triple roles in Varalaru, while Bhavana has won the award for the best actress for her role in Chithiram Pesuthadi. Veyyil, by Vasantha Balan, was adjudged the best film in Tamil cinema. A R Rahman was adjudged the best music composer for his tunes in Sillunu Oru Kadhal.

Gana Ulaganathan as best playback singer for Valameenukkum song and Shreya Ghosal as the best female playback singer for the song Munbe Vaa in Sillunu Oru Kadhal. Na. Muthukumar as best lyric writer for the song Veyiloodu Vilayadi in Veyyil.

Since Ajith could not attend the function, his award was received by director K S Ravikumar.

Rahman was presented the award by Vijay, who was a special guest on the occasion.
