Three days before "The Day the Earth Stood Still" crashes into Indian theaters, a New York premiere for the anticipated film was held by 20th Century Fox. Using AMC Loews Lincoln Square, New York as the place the special screening took place on Tuesday, December 9. The premiere saw many Hollywood stars walking down the red carpet.

Those attending the events included the film's cast ensemble, Keanu Reeves, Jennifer Connelly, Jaden Smith, Jon Hamm and Kathy Bates, as well as director Scott Derrickson. They were joined by celebrity guests from Jaden's parents, Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith, to WWE star-turned-actor John Cena.
