What is Tejas Rastogi, your character all about in ‘Alag’?
Tejas was eighteen years in isolation. The story starts from the point when Tejas comes out of the isolation and starts interacting with society. And from there on his only goal is to find acceptance in the society. ‘Alag’ is a very emotional film, a very heartwarming film. I am sure the audience will like it. The boy has special powers, science fiction etc. But the best part about Tejas is that he has a clean heart and his innocence is very endearing.
Has the experience of PopKorn Khao…Taught you something?
Of course! Films are not in your hands. You have to give your 110%. Success of films is completely dependent on the audience. And you have to give your best.
Superman is releasing soon and your character has extraordinary powers like Superman.
I am a huge Superman fan. I am surely gonna be seeing that film.
‘Aparichit’ released recently while ‘Krrish’ and ‘Superman’ shall follow close to each other. Any butterflies about the fate of ‘Alag’?
I think it’s great because so many films are coming out because it shows that Indian audience is growing. They want different films. I remember the last superhero film in Indian films was ‘Mr India’. I was a huge fan of ‘Mr India’. As for big films releasing close to each other, then the strongest will survive. I think there’s enough market for everyone. It all depends upon the audience as to what they prefer at that point of time.
The visuals of ‘Alag’ are strong
Yeah….The visuals are very strong…The cinematographer is Fuwad Khan who did ‘Jism’. Hats off to him. When I saw the film I felt each frame was a masterpiece.
What about the music of the film?
The music is wonderful. It’s done by Aadesh Shrivastava. My favorite track is the title track: ‘Sabse Alag’ They also gave me a dance number ‘Hai Junoon’. In fact I injured my leg in that song. The man who choreographed my songs in Popkorn is back again and he also has done a great job.
How was it like working with Dia Mirza, a senior to you?
Dia is awesome. I had a great time working with her. I’ve learnt a lot of things from her. She is a seasoned actress. She just helped me a lot, both professionally and even personally she encouraged me a lot.
Any romantic seasons between you two
There is one romantic scene. It was fun.
You shaved off your hair and eye brows. Apparently you didn’t tell your parents about that.
I didn’t tell my parents. When my mother found out she was shocked. She was like ‘Mere bete ko ye kya ho gaya hai. Aise kyun kiya. But when she saw the film, she loved it. She was overwhelmed.
What kind of roles would you like to do?
I would like to do all sorts of roles but at the end of the day, it is up to the audience to decided what they like me in. I am a newcomer in the industry and I am leaving it to the audience.
Any other films that you are doing?
I am doing another film for Mr Samuel. Ashu ji is directing it.
