According to Kim, Kathputhli directed by Sanjay Khanna isn't a murder mystery. Mink also hastens to tell you that she has not entered the fray as a producer just to cast herself in power packed roles as an actress. "In the first place, the fact is that I was never really interested in acting. I never hankered after roles and did whatever came my way. I did not come to India from Germany with a dream to be an actress at all."
Mink confesses that as a producer, she has been highly impressed by filmmakers like Ramgopal Varma and Mukesh Bhatt."Ramgopal Varma strives to make a different film with a different subject in no time and makes nobody's into big stars. Like Ramgopal Varma, even Mukesh Bhatt depends entirely on his script and not on the stars. In today's scenario, it is the script which is the star and the star is of secondary importance."
Citing an example to what she states, Mink says. "Today a producer has several options unlike in the past when he had to chase the stars to make his project saleable. "If you have the money, you can pull in the stars but then if you do not have the proper script, even an Amitabh Bachchan or for that matter Shah Rukh Khan will not be able to help you when it comes to the box office."
Talking about Sanjay Khanna who has directed the film, Mink is all praises."Kathputhli has shaped up well. Sanjay is an awesome director. It was after working with a director like Sanjay Khanna that Punnu and I realized what the term teamwork actually means. Generally the director is the solo captain of the ship and calls the shot in entirety, but as far as Kathputhli is concerned Sanjay worked in tandem with both Punnu and I without any ego problems. Though generally it is the director's vision, without consulting Punnu who has written the script and the screenplay, Sanjay didn't do anything. I would say that Sanjay has projected 100% the writer's vision."
As an actor, it is Mink's challenge that the audience will be able to see a different Mink in Kathputhli. "I play one of the five main characters of the film. I play Milind Soman's wife Lisa, who is absolutely clueless to her surroundings. Amnesia hits her and her journey starts from that point of her life. It is a performance –oriented role that I have done in the film perhaps for the first time in my career as an actor till date. Whoever has seen my performance in the film has not stopped raving about me."
Mink adds that Kathputhli was shot in a span of 45 days in and around Mumbai, Goa and Hyderabad. Kathputhli isn't a murder mystery. Let me also add that we have not rehashed from any foreign film. It is one hundred per cent an original subject. It has been a challenge for me to get the project going along with my brother Punnu and hence I did not sign any outside project as an actor for the last two years".
Mink concedes that she has grown a lot both as a person as well as an actor while making Kathputhli. "When I started off, I was a kid and was not at all serious about work or life at that point of time. However the amount of maturity and growth which I have managed to gain in just two years of making Kathputhli is something which others would have gained after making films for twenty or twenty five years."
