    Monday, July 10, 2006
Debojit, a simple engineer from a small town of Assam was recently crowned the winner of SaReGaMaPa Challenge 2005 Contest. Debojit a civil engineer was happily settled in Assam but always had a dream to become a singer one day. In order to fulfill his dream he left his job and came down to Mumbai with his wife to excel in the field of Music. It all came true with his performance in the challenge show which was arranged by Zee TV as Sa Re GaMaPa Challenge 2005 where he won Millions of heart and was crowned the Voice of India. He was greeted by millions of people in Silcher when he came back to his home to meet his relatives. The recent winner of the SaReGaMaPa 2005 is busy in stage shows in and across the country. He is recently in news for his latest album “Debojit” which is released under the banner of SaReGaMa. He was recently in Capital for the launch of his album where we had a small chit chat with him.

Your first album is being released, how do you feel about it?

I feel very good. It is hard for me to describe my happiness in words. This success of mine has come only because of my mother’s faith in me, my wife’s support, wishes from my well wishers and friends cooperation and last not the least is Sa Re Ga Ma Pa challenge 2005 , who has given us the platform to prove our talent.

Please tell us about your Album?

My first album “Debojit” is being released by Sa Re Ga Ma. “Debojit" is my debut album which contains eight tracks in which four are composed and produced by Biddu and also the lead track "Jeena” has been contributed by Bidduji and one song by "Ismail Darbar" is also presented in this album. The song Jeena was performed by me at finale SA RE GA MA PA Challenge 2005. We have also included two hip shaping remixes of "Ek Hasina Thi" and "O Humdum Suniyo Re”.

Which is your favorite track from your album?

I like all the songs from the album and I feel that listeners must listen to all my songs of my debut album. But talking about my favorite I am biased for my song “Jeena” whose videos are running in all the music channels and “Tu dil hai mera”.

Even though you have won the Voice of India still you are learning music. Why?

I feel that there is lot more to learn as music is said to be vast like an ocean. I am learning music since my childhood and have done my stage shows in and across the country. Presently I am learning from Karan Sharma in Mumbai.

Are you giving your voice for Hindi movies also?

Yes I have sang a song for Himesh Reshamiya and Vinit has accompanied me in that song. Apart from this I have sang for the movie “Cabre” whose music is being composed by Bhaapi Lahri. Whereas the conversation are still on with the famous directors like Mahesh Bhatt, Subhash Ghai and Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

We have heard that your album will be released in other languages too. Is it true?

Yes, I will be soon coming up with my albums in Assami and Bangla languages.

Which actor do you feel that your voice suits him the best?

I feel that my voice suits best for Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan.
