How does it feel having made your debut now
It has been a beautiful journey. It took me four years to find the right kind of films. I have done theatre, been on Television, I was a VJ a Rj a roadie. I have tried my hand at all the aspects and have enjoyed doing it. I stated this side of my creative part with theatre even as a kid. My first play was Shakespeare, Merchant of Venice where I played Shylock. I have been in all fields of acting like music, dance and drama at St. John's school. Later I had theatre groups called Agaaz and Panchatantra.
What kind of films do you like to do
I will continue doing everything that gives creative satisfaction. I will be selective. I have already signed my next film Hamara Bajaj being directed by Soojit Sircar agan. It's the story of a small town boy Sanjay Bajaj.
What about Television will you continue
It all depends on my work. I will do television but yes I will be very selective about it.
How do you react to success now.
I was an introvert and still am off camera so success has not gone to my head. But in front of the camera I am flamboyant and loud. I feel it's good to conserve down your energy and simmer the energy in real life. People say I look mysterious and have a naughty glint in my eyes. I write sing and compose and want to follow my passion. I will give my soul to it.
Heard you are already married
Yes, I am already married to Tahira Kashyap my girlfriend for many years we signed the legal document recently. She is naturally very pretty. She was a lecturer and professor at the National College and Mithibai college. Right now she is in Chandigarh writing a book. So we shuttle down to meet each other as and when we have the time.
How has she taken to your success, is she pretty okay with you getting all the female attention
She is pretty used to me getting all the female attention. She has been in my life even before I became an actor. We give a lot of space to each other.
What are your views on Extra Marital affairs
I am not judgemental. I am pretty happening and she is naturally pretty but I love her and No I don't think I will go for it.
What is your opinion of the metrosexual man
It's good to be a metrosexual man. It's good to maintain hygiene and get all the manicures and pedicures done. I come from a small town where there's clean air. In big cities it's needed as there's a lot of pollution around. Women like hygienic men. I have been well exposed to all this as I have travelled more than my school mates and college mates and have always been a city guy.
How was it working with John and doing the item number. Didn't you have any inhibitions
Not an anal produer. He's a buddy he's been there and done that. He's self made and I am much pretty the same. It's all about choices you make. I never expected to be a VJ I though I was too earthy and simple to be a VJ.
Since you are earthy what made you take up Vicky Donor
Since the movie is on Vicky a sperm donor I though it would be good to be a part of unconventional subject. I liked the quirkiness in the subject. The subject is very touching there's drama though it has a comic touch. Hamara Bajaj too is not a light hearted movie it is a drama.
What is your opinion about Sperm donation
People are not very open to talk about sperm donation. There's this Cryobank a sperm bank where they encourage healthy intelligent boys to donate sperms. It's a recent thing as the sperm count has gone down. It's the need of the hour and will enlighten childless couples
You have been a sperm donor yourself. What message would you like to give youngsters your age
Make the right choices in life. Sperm donation is better than blood donation. Blood saves life but sperm gives life. I donated sperms in 2004 when I was dating my wife and she is aware of it. She believes in me and trusts me and is open to it. My parents are progressive they have loved the movie. My mom heard about it but she wasn't aware my dad explained it to her. She's okay with it.
Are you religious or spiritual in life
I am more spiritual and hardly visit temples. I like rading the Gita and believe it's idealistic. I particularly like Krishna's updesh to Arjun where he says "Face success and failure without expecting anyting from it" It's very subjective. I believe in humanity. My mom is religious but my father is more spiritual and is a great astrologer.
Did you father ever predict your future
His name is P. KHurana and is popular in North India. He writes columns on astrology in Indian Express and Tribune. When I finished my journalism in May 2006 I wanted to take a break but he said you have to go to Mumbai or else you will not find work. This is the right time. I came and got work as an RJ in Ahmedabad. When I was in Radio in Delhi after completing one and half years he said go to Mumbai you will find work. I came here and I thank my stars I came here because I never had to look back.
