Will the movie attracts legs to theaters?
Bol Bachchan is a complete entertainer. It shaped up nicely. What audience want is all their in this film.
There are people in industry and media which blame that "bad movies" are making money.Your comment?
Well.. people who can't make a blockbuster masala entertainer they only say that it's not good cinema. if your movies does 100cr business means lakhs of people have gone and watched your movie. At the end of the day audience wants to get entertain. They don't want to get educated on class cinema. Entertainment can be anything emotional, comedy, action, drama whichever way. The bottom line is you cannot discard the audience.
You where associated with realistic cinema like Apaharan and Gangajal?
Gangajal is very entertaining. Prakash Jha pick up a real theme based idea and make it very entertaining. The other makers pick up realistic cinema but they make it very boring. They make it like documentary. Such subjective movies should be entertaining not documentary types.
Coming to Bol Bachchan..tell us about your character in the film?
He is a wrestler from a very small town. He is practically what you call zameedar. He loves talking English and he thinks that he knows very good English but he always speaks wrong English. People are scared of him so nobody corrects him. Half of the villagers don't know English so they think he speaks very good English and he believes in honesty and how everybody cons him.
When there is so much change in the script then why there is a need of buying the rights?
Eventually lot of people said that there is no need to buy the rights but I really believed that if you are inspired by a film it's only ethical to buy rights. We had many great film makers and if one of their films inspired us to make a film then buying a right is like giving a tribute. It's just ethical.
Don't you think it will carry an undue baggage It's not about baggage?
It's about ethical. If we people don't follow then we can expect other to follow. So you have to set up an example somewhere and we are in the industry past 20 years and we are responsible and if we don't do it then who will do.
Whose idea it was to rope up Big B in the song with you two guys?
It was Rohit's idea. The title is Bol Bachchan so he wanted to do some song on this.
How Big B song is incorporated in the film It's in the begin of the film?
He practically introduces the characters.
Working with both the Bachchans together as you have worked with both of them separately?
Ya...I shared a great rapport with both of them so it was very comfortable. When we asked Big B to dub he did that alone as we were busy. And we sung a bit in the song too...
Do you have any kind of pressure about the box office?
We don't think about it. Pressure is their weather the film will work or not. While doing the film you come to know that the film will work or not at the box office.
Abhishek type of comedy is different from yours. So how you made him to get into your type?
We have to really push Abhishek into our type of comedy. The timing and script demand and all that. He took one or two day to settle with it.
As per the actresses of the film they said you were the livewires on the set?
Krishna and other comedy circus boys used to do mimicry so it was lots of fun.
Prachi and Asin said you are a prangster?
Mera naam kharab kar rhai hai aur kuch nahi... (They are spoiling my name)
But you are one of the industries well known pranksters?
Well since two years I have not played any pranks.
Did anyone else played pranks with you?
No... nobody have guts.
Prachi was complaining that she did 2 films with you but she didn't get the chance to pair up with you?
She is in fact my sister in the film. That's director decision not mine.
You are done with 20years in the film industry tell us the biggest positive and negative change you come across?
Positive is that we are going global which is helping us and the market is increasing. The negative is even though film does so much business but the producer doesn't get good profit out of it.
Your take on corporate in films?
I don't know my experience with corporate is that they are very good at marketing and buying the films but they don't have knowledge of making the movie.
Your upcoming films?
Himmatwala, Son of Sardar, Satyagrah.
What about direction?
I am too occupied for next two year so may be later.
