You look very natural on screen in the promos of Cocktail. How did you prepare for the role?
No, I was not at all natural. I'm glad that people think I am natural. But what actually happened was that since I did not belong to the film industry I had to train myself in everything possible. I took dance classes, diction modulation, acting classes. So it was an all round training for me.
How has the entire experience of shooting for your debut film been?
Oh it's been an amazing journey. Both Saif and Deepika were helpful they made me comfortable on the sets.Homi as a director guided me well through the journey of filmmaking. He was very precise with what he wanted. He has pushed me beyond barriers. Now when I look back I feel I could have done better but I didn't realise my potentials then as it just felt right at that moment.
You were offered Rock star earlier do you regret that you couldn't make it?
I was busy modelling at that time and I have no regrets.I am glad that I am making my debut with Cocktail.
Do you feel close to your character Meera. How much Meera is actually you?
Quite a bit,I related to her completely. I am not starry and Meera is an extension of me in so many ways. I am your everyday girl, with not so everyday aspirations in life. I am reserved in personal life and take time to open up just as Meera is.In fact the way she sings and dances is so much like me that it was an added advantage as it was my first film. The way she reacts of situations is so much me in real life.
Are you nervous now that the film is all set for release?
Nervous is an understatement.I am excited, nervous, on the tenterhooks all in one. I don't know how to express myself till my film releases. May be after the release I could really tell you what I am going through.
What was life like before Cocktail apart from modeling life?
am a complete Mumbai girl. I went to St.Agnes Convent and later graduated through Xavier's. I was planning to do my masters when modeling happened. It was out of the blue and all my plans to do masters just flew out of the window.I was modeling and I got a call for Cocktail, since it was my first film I didn't know how to react but when I went through the script I decided to do the film.Deepika and Saif helped me take my character forward.
How was the camaraderie on the sets?
It was great.Saif was very helpful and Deepika and I got along well.Since we are both from Non film backgrounds and both of us have a modelling background we hit it off from the beginning. The script was also about three friends so it was great.I couldn't have asked for a better film.In fact most of the scenes which were not to be in the film are actually there.Saif and Deepika would react so instinctively and I would ask them how they do that.I would react naturally. So Homi decided to keep those scenes.
Since you are with a modeling background are you open to wearing a bikini on screen?
I don' think I have the guts or the confidence to pull off something like that, so probably not. It's just my debut venture maybe when I have done a body of work and gained confidence I will think about it.For me it's all about comfort at the moment.I can't reveal myself at this stage.
Any more project up your way now?
None so far. I want to take my time before signing any film now. I want to gauge the reaction of the audience as well as the industry before really taking up another film
What kind of role would you like to play?
It' too early for me to be really talking about it.I am not at a stage where I can say that I would love playing a certain character.Hopefully in a few years time I will confidently be able to say that.
