 Chaal Apni
Prodigiously mesmerizing! The trio tunes a blissful melody that lets us grasp them so easily to our senses. So simple and mild in beats the fill-ins are bounded with Santoor and appealing chorals. Lyrics are really spellbinding while Hrishikesh Kamerkar and Hamsika Iyer embellish it yet more colorful. A sure-winner on the charts…
Allah Hoo
Incisively moves on with spiritual touch. Rendered by Yash Narvekar and again Hrishikesh Kamerkar, their vocalisms are top-notching and again lyrics are empaling. It’s patterned rhythm on percussion that we keep heeding throughout the song. There’s nothing much chords to strike on strings here.
Gulaon Mein (upbeat)
An unstrained piece of melody – A best verdict to staple this song… Neither tune nor beats sound extraordinarily superb. Merely, it’s KK’s voice that adds spirit to the song. Looks like, trio Shankar-Ehasan-Loy seems to have tuned this upbeat version to be an imperfect number.
Dhoop Ke Sikkae
Carries the best ingredients that make this song absolutely brilliant and certainly, it’s the best song on tracks. Decently patterned rhythms on hard rock guitars, stunning vocals and heart-binding lyrics – here’s the mantra out for this crème de la crème melody. Prasoon Joshi comes up with an spirit-igniting lines that’s blended with stupefying rhythms by the trio-stars.
Arzoo
For sure, it doesn’t any sense while listening on your I-pods and stereos. Perhaps, the adeptness should’ve been well-depicted on the visuals. It’s best to avoid this song until it goes straight onto the screens. Lyrical lines bounded with pathos of a young soul are all that the song centers on…
Manzaraat
Shilpa’s husky voice evokes the sensuous appeal or else there’s nothing laudable here. Clichéd beats on percussions sans innovative preludes are the blatant features. Shankar-Ehasan-Loy has persistently utilized hard-rock chords on guitars throughout the album and this isn’t an elision.
 Gulaon Mein (Serene)
Not an exact unparallel version from the previous one. The musicians have spelled an intellectual touch avoiding hard-beats and focused on cute preludes. Moreover, Mohit Chauhan’s voice eclipses everything and indeed your senses. This version is sure to go continuously on your music systems, especially on long drives.
On the whole, ‘Sikandar’ has the mix of best and mediocre. Apart from ‘Dhoop Ke’ and ‘Chaal Apne’, the other numbers may do well once they’re on the screens. Shankar-Ehasan-Loy haven’t attempted for the best results that they had delivered in ‘Rock On’ or at least for the middling one as in ‘13B’.
Verdict: Passably Good
Rating : **½
