Tezz - Mediocre and average
IndiaGlitz  [Sunday, February 05, 2012]

Music Director: Sajid Wajid

Lyrics: Jalees Sherwani and Shabbir Ahmed

After the success of Dabangg music director Sajid-Wajid had a tough task of dealing with a thriller like Tezz. The album boasts of two melodious songs, one item number, a catchy title track along with remixes and different versions of the same tracks. In all there are ten tracks with remix versions. Sajid Wajid have worked hard towards achieving an entertaining album but somewhere it lacks the novelty. Unlike Sajid Wajid's 'tere mast mast do nain' from Dabangg.

Tere Bina

Singer: Rahat Fateh Ali Khan

Lyrics: Jalees Sherwani

The album commences with Rahat's soulful voice in Tere Bina. A soothing melodious number it has a Sufi touch fused with contemporary beats. The lyrics are average but Rahat's voice rises above it and takes it to another level. The sound of the lilting Piano simply merges into the song.

The track has two other versions, a female version by Shreya Ghosal, it has a beautiful rendition but cannot overtake Rahat's version. Jalees Sherwani's lyrics are so so but Sajid Wajid score over as far as music is concerned

There is also a sad version of the song again sung by Rahat again is once again a soul stirring version. Here again the violin dominates the piano and takes the song to another height.

Tezz

Singer: Sunidhi Chauhan, Shaan and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan

Lyrics: Jalees Sherwani

A title track by Sunidhi Chauhan is just about average and the lyrics are not worth mentioning. And it does not do much to support the album. Sunidhi Chauhan has tried her best to make the number peppy but since it's a tacky mediocre number there's not much she could do.

There are four versions of the song. Sadly not all the four versions are interesting to the ears. There is a male version by Shaan too. Though Shaan has tried his best there is not much he could do for the song.

The remix version by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is a fast peppy number but will have fewer fans. Remix version by Sunidhi Chauhan not much of a difference between the first and this version too.

Main Hoon Shab

Singer: Mohit Chauhan

Lyrics: Shabbir Ahmed

Next on the playlist is Main Hoon Shab rendered by Mohit Chauhan, which is a melodious track with a subtle qawwali flavor. The music directors have given depth to this song by blending Chauhan's captivating voice with a good composition in a perfect way. The music is light and enjoyable, while the qawwali element gives variation to the song. Ahmed's lyrics are relatively good, the sufi-esque music is easy on the ears and Mohit is charming all the way. Apparently there are no remixes or alternative versions of Main Hoon Shab to endure.

Laila

Singer: Sunidhi Chauhan

Lyrics: Shabbir Ahmed

Main Hoon Shab is followed by the item number Laila, is another hit track which will make you groove. It is almost like other Sunidhi Chauhan's numbers like Chikni Chameli and there are moments of energy here and there, but it fails to strike a chord.

Remix version if fast and with quick beats and is equally good. This album will soon be a chart buster like most of the item numbers.

Overall the music of Tezz is mediocre and average in every sense. Except for Tere Bina and Laila the other tracks are average scorers. Lyrics too are not all that great. The album lacks innovation like other Sajid Wajid ablums.
