Lyrics: Sameer Anjaan and Faiz Anwar
After the super-success of 'Wanted', actor turned director Prabhu Deva is back again with an action packed drama 'Rowdy Rathore', an official remake of Telugu super-hit 'Vikramarkudu' starring Ravi Teja, Anushka Shetty. The film is an action packed thriller and true to its title music director duo Sajid-Wajid have composed a boisterous album. However, expectations have raised high from the duo after the success of 'Wanted'.
Singer: Wajid and Shreya Ghoshal
The album opens with a fun fare from Sajid Wajid. This boy-wooing-girl kind of song is garish and loud with a typical South-Indian touch. It has the feel of the South Indian song "Naaka Mukka Naaka Mukka" to it. Wajid's immensely stimulated voice and Shreya Ghoshal's husky vocals add to the foot tapping dance number. The feisty song is interspersed with lot of drums and dhols with chorus added to it. Made especially to lure the masses this song is a definite hit at the Dandiya this year.
Chinta Ta Ta Chita Chita
Singers: Mika Singh and Wajid
Another boisterous rowdy number that suits the title of the film, "Chinta Ta Ta Chita Chita" has been rehashed from College Pappalo (Jinta Chitha) from 'Vikramudu'. Mika's nasal tone and Sajid's jovial voice brings out the perfect combination the lyrics penned by Sameer Anjaan. The song begins with a lot of drums beats followed by the twangs of the guitar. Another peppy dance track number is going to be a great rage at the festivals this year especially amongst the youth!
Aa Re Pritam Pyaare
Singers: Mamta Sharma and Sarosh Sami
This third track is a raunchy and loud number sung by Mamta Sharma. Once again it has a very south Indian feel to it and is targeted at frontbenchers. A fast dance number with dhols and drums again gives it an 80's feel to it. Mamta Sharma and Sarosh Sami have been given ample scope to use their vocals to the highest pitch making it another rowdy number.
Chamak Challo Chel Chabeli
Singers: Kumar Sanu and Shreya Ghoshal
The next track, "Chammak Challo Chel Chabeli" is a lovable versatile romantic number. The flute in the background gives it a very soft feel. Shreya's voice accompanied by Kumar Sanu's song brings back the 80's feel to it. Shreya Ghoshal and Kumar Sanu have done justice to the mood of the song which is also the highlight of the song. Faiz Anwar's lyrics are an added plus. Sajid and Wajid have definitely got a winner here.
Tera Ishq Bada Teekha
Singer: Shreya Ghoshal and Javed Ali
This song is a breezy-romantic number with a lot of instrumentation. The intermittent use of drums and violin in the background gives it a 60's kind of feel. Shreya succeeds in mesmerizing you with her soft rendition. She is totally at ease and sustains the cheerful mood throughout the length of the number Javed Ali's deeply mellowed voice tries to recreate Mohd.Rafi aura while Shreya Ghoshal gives it a nice support.
Chandaniya (Lori Lori)
Singer: Shreya Ghoshal
This mellifluously track rendered by Shreya Ghoshal is indeed a soothing lullaby. She renders it lovingly and is able to hold your attention. The sound of wind chimes and the piano has been used brilliants in the rendition. The song reminds of the soft rendition of "So Gaye Hum Kho Gaye" a lullaby rendered by Lata in 'Zubeida'. 'Chandaniya (Lori Lori)' is just one great example. Simply adorable!!!
Singers: Akshay Kumar and Sarosh Sami
This song depicts the action and the character of Akshay Kumar. Akshay Kumar speaks about his character in the Rowdy Remix. Counting high on one-liners, with Sarosh Sami as back-up vocalist is a tailor made musical piece.
Overall: An action packed musical dhamaka. The hallmark of this Sajid-Wajid album is once again the proper use of sound and excellent orchestration. Like all the South Indian remakes 'Rowdy Rathore' also promises street music with a masala flavour. This time we are certainly missing the remixes which had ample scope in this album. It will be a chart buster as well as a stress-buster.
