Krrish - A cool album for this summer
IndiaGlitz  [Tuesday, May 02, 2006]

First thing that comes to your mind on picking up the music album of 'KRRISH' is - "Will it be better than Koi..Mil Gaya?" Let's clear the suspense right away - YES IT IS! While 'Koi..Mil Gaya' grew on music lovers as days progressed and created further impact as the movie turned into super-duper hit, 'KRRISH' has a potential to make an instant impact due to one single factor - GOOD DOSE OF INDIAN MELODY. After 'Fanaa', here comes yet another album that is deep rooted to Indian tradition and doesn't really throw up an item song without any reason whatsoever. No wonder Roshans [Rakesh, Rajesh, Hrithik] have all the reasons rejoice as KRRISH carries tremendous musical appeal everywhere.

1) Pyaar Ki Ek Kahani [Lyrics: Ibraheem Ashq, Singers: Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal]

Simplicity at its best, it is lyrics by Ibraheem Ashq that make 'Pyaar Ki Ek Kahani' the song it is. The man who also wrote for Roshans' last 'Koi..Mil Gaya' and 'Kahon Naa... Pyaar Hai' returns to tell a simple story about a boy and a girl who have found love in each other. Sonu Nigam makes best use of the situation provided to him and is very much at ease while singing to the soulful'n'fresh tune by Rajesh Roshan. Boasting of a trademark melody by the composer, 'Pyaar Ki Ek Kahaani' has Shreya Ghoshal giving company to Sonu Nigam and turns out to be the kind of song that was expected from a movie featuring Hrithik as a simpleton who falls in love with ravishing Priyanka.

2) Koi Tumsa Nahin (Original and Big Band Mix) [Lyrics: Nasir Faraaz, Singers: Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal]

One would have thought that a song like 'Pyaar Ki Ek Kahaani' is an exception since the film is about a super hero, but surprisingly the next number too turns out to be a love song which is immersed deeply in melody. This time around Nasir Faraaz written 'Koi Tumsa Nahin' has an Rajesh Roshan stamp clearly visible all over the place and it doesn't take time for the nostalgia to be revived. Though both original and 'Big Band Mix' versions are sung by Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal [repeated again after 'Pyaar Ki Ek Kahaani'], there is variety galore! While the original seems to be a number about two young'n'innocent hearts falling in love and admiring each other to be the best, the BIG BAND MIX turns out to be a mix of jazz and groove and changes the mood to an urban dance number.

3) Chori Chori Chupke Chupke [Lyrics: Nasir Faraaz, Singers: Udit Narayan, Shreya Ghoshal]

By the time 'Chori Chori Chupke Chupke' comes, it's time to rejoice as it turns out to be third song in succession that has a small town/village simplicity pretty prevalent from beginning till the end. In fact in case of 'Chori Chori Chupke Chupke', the effect is most visible and that's mainly due to crooning by Udit Narayan who himself belongs to hilly region [Nepal]. The freshness in his voice amazes inspite of near 25 years old career and it doesn't come as a surprise when one listens to this love duet [with Shreya Ghoshal in tow] in a repeat mode. Best suited for late hours in the night or early morning, this smooth'n'quite number is a treat in this hot summer!

4) Dil Na Diya [Lyrics: Vijay Akela, Singer: Kunal Ganjawala]

If you LOVED 'It's Magic' in 'Koi..Mil Gaya' then you would at least LIKE 'Dil Na Diya' that is sung with the usual spunk by Kunal Ganjawala. Yes, this time around instead of getting all lovey-dovey and mushy, Ganjawala is more spirited and lively and makes this dance number quite catchy and likeable. Written by Vijay Akela, the song has Hrithik Roshan singing'n'dancing in a circus [that looks more like a carnival] with Priyanka admiring his elastic dance steps with utter amazement. The setting seems quite close to that of 'It's Magic' though this time around th
